Suryavarman II was a great Khmer king in the Angkor era. His reign was renowned for the construction of Angkor Wat, Cambodia's national emblem. He ruled from 1113 until 1150, according to the Wat Phu inscription K.366 (CV, 292), after unifying the Khmer empires into one nation. Upon his passing, the Khmer empire stretched from China to the sea and from Burma to Champa.
